Recorded Live at Stone Age Studios, Aug – Sep 1998. Featuring Gunars P. Lelis on Lead Guitar, “Blazing Guitar” is an instrumental album of spontaneous guitar playing, to prerecorded sequences of various instruments, textures, and moods. Each cut features only one guitar, playing along with midi sequences from start to finish – and most were recorded on the 1st and only take.
All the tracks on this album were digitally recorded live to DAT, using no overdubs, punch ins, edits, stops or fades.
All original sequences, composed and arranged by Gunars P. Lelis, and All instruments were played by Gunars P. Lelis – except for the following: “Blues For Justin” is a generic midi file of “Red House”, looped twice into a new sequence, with a slightly different ending. I assigned the instruments, and arranged the overall sequence, but did not compose or play the individual sequenced parts for each instrument. “Mind Games Forever” is the verse from John Lennon’s song: “Mind Games”. The naked piano was played by Steve Rodin, which I recorded into my sequencer, and then made a 13.5 minute loop of the verse only.
The final song on the originally released album was called “B&D” (which stood for Bass & Drums). For the digital electronic release, I have renamed that to be the title track: “Blazing Guitar”.
